The MN Board of Water & Soil Resources statute/law does not provide any authority to the MN Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts. In Minnesota we provide funds to the state association thru contracts to provide services to its members that have a state-wide benefit.

The Missouri Department of Natural Resources Soil and Water Conservation Program does not pay state association dues. However, payment of dues to the association is an eligible expense for districts, which can come out of their state grant.

Maine does not pay state association dues. There have been previous cases of state agencies directly funding state associations involved in lobbying efforts, so this practice is discouraged. Our Department provides $25,000 to each District; their association dues are $2,000. We don't require Districts to join MACD, but all have.

In Maryland, we have supported up to $575 for MASCD (state association) dues and $700 for NACD. Fees for MASCD have increased recently so we may also increase our contribution in a future fiscal year.
