Soil Health Policies

I am interested in finding out if any of our States have a soil health policy either on the books or part of an agency plan. If the answer is yes I am hoping you can provide me with a link or copy of the document. There seems to be a growing interest here in Minnesota to articulate the soil and water conservation benefits of soil health into a State policy.

Missouri does not have an overall state policy for soil health. However, the Department of Natural Resources Soil and Water Conservation Program has a requirement for soil samples to be submitted for a soil health analysis for landowners participating in the state funded Cover Crop practice. The following link has information about the details of the practice http://dnr.mo.gov/env/swcp/. The Soil Health Assessment Center at the University of Missouri has more information and forms that are needed to process soil health samples for cost-share through the state program, with information at https://cafnr.missouri.edu/soil-health/.

South Dakota does not have an official policy but we are active in efforts to promote soil health within the state.
