CD health insurance plans

Montana CD’s are looking for advice on group health insurance plans that other states may have for the conservation districts. Are your CD employees offered health insurance? Does your state association carry the overall plan, do individual CD’s? If you do have health insurance, what kind of premiums are you looking at? Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated as well!

Thank you for any info you can provide!

In New Jersey, CD employees are offered health insurance under the State Health Benefits Plan. Each individual CD covers the employer's portion with premiums ranging from approximately $500 - $1,500 per month per employee depending on the type and level of plan (individual, family, high deductible, low deductible, etc.) and includes a prescription drug program. The employee is responsible for a portion of the cost as a percentage of salary, type and level of plan. The state association has taken no role in how CDs arrange their salaries and benefits.

Many CDs include post-retirement benefits which are now causing some financial stress in the smaller offices as it can cost up to an additional $1,100 per retiree.
