West Virginia is working to update, improve its annual conservation farm contest. Do any of you have such a contest in your state, and can you provide links to judging criteria, etc.?

One of our conservation partners sponsors a Conservation Observance Day which is held on the farm of the conservation farmer of the year. I don't have the information about how they judge, but here is a link to the event page. You can contact the group directly. http://wisconsinlandwater.org/events/conservation-observance-day

The only thing I came up with is the Wyoming Stock Growers Association Environmental Stewardship Award in partnership with the Wyoming Department of Agriculture recognizes Wyoming cattlemen whose natural resource stewardship practices contribute to the environment and enhance productivity and profitability. I do not have any judging criteria, but have provided a link to the web page:

The North Carolina Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts annually recognizes its Conservation Farm Family (CFF) of the Year. The contest begins with several districts selecting a district level CFF. The district winners can compete at the area level (8 areas), then at the regional level (3 regions). All three regional winners are recognized at the Association's Annual meeting. The state level winner hosts a pretty significant celebration event. The NC State Grange has provided prize money for the regional and state winners for the last few years, which has really helped to invigorate participation. Our Division generally participates in the state-level judging. For more information go to: http://www.ncagr.gov/SWC/educational/farm_family.html.
